Trust. And patience.

Tonight I went for a run.

It was a lovely evening. Crisp air, fresh breeze, fallen leaves and hardly anyone around. It was beautiful. My company was a ipod and a good pair of running shoes.

Sometimes I think I bear too much of the world on my shoulders. I needlessly worry about things that are either premature or unnecessary.

Tonight was one of those nights where I felt myself breathing heavily, feeling a sense of "loss of control" and worry. As I ran, I began to shift my perspective from the ground beneath me and looked up. Here before me, there was a stunning sunset and a flock of birds flying through the sky. Their silhouettes were perfectly aligned with the skyline. And the only thing that I heard was,

" Do you trust me? Do you know that I am good?"

See, we humans have this ability (or should I say inability) to try to fast forward, pause and restart our lives. But, let's face it, our lives are not governed by a remote control, but by Someone in complete control. Regardless of our constant need to run ahead or take detours, we always are guided back to the same place. Or at least I am.

God doesn't want you or me, for that matter, to distrust his goodness. What is that common saying you always hear? "God is good, ALL the time."

Maybe instead of looking at the ground beneath us (our present situations), we should shift our perspectives to the skyline (God and His goodness).

Where do you need to change your perspective today and just trust God's goodness?
